Poland is significantly ramping up its artillery production capabilities, with the Polish Capital Investment Fund (FIK) committing over 2.4 billion zloty ($662.9 million) to expand the manufacturing of 155mm ammunition. The funding will be distributed across four key companies within the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and is intended to support infrastructure upgrades, the installation of new production lines, and technological expansion.

Breakdown of the funding includes:

Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet: 1.36 billion zloty to boost its core 155mm ammunition output.

Mesko: 887 million zloty to increase production scale for 155mm shells.

Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem: 113 million zloty for acquiring precision technological systems to support shell elaboration.

Zakłady Produkcji Specjalnej Gamrat: 66 million zloty allocated for the construction and setup of base bleed production capabilities—crucial for extending artillery range.

This large-scale investment comes as part of Poland’s effort to strengthen self-reliant munitions production in response to rising NATO and European defense needs. It underscores Warsaw’s commitment to becoming a regional hub for artillery manufacturing.
