BAE Systems has been awarded a role by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to advance the development and deployment of the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Operations Kit (BATDOK) under the new initiative known as FORGE-IT (Force Optimization through Rapid-Prototyping, Gear Enhancements & Innovative Technology).
The BATDOK platform—originally created in collaboration between AFRL and BAE Systems—is a mobile electronic health documentation system designed to support medics in recording patient information from the point of injury through extended recovery phases. The solution replaces traditional paper-based field documentation by digitally capturing injuries, treatments, and vitals, ensuring a seamless handoff of patient data between field medics and medical personnel in hospitals or recovery centers.
Under the FORGE-IT program, BAE Systems will help expand BATDOK’s capabilities to include AI-powered clinical decision support, remote patient monitoring, and other battlefield-ready features that will improve real-time triage and enhance medical outcomes for wounded service members.
Together, BATDOK and FORGE-IT are expected to significantly modernize combat medical operations, allowing warfighters to provide faster, smarter care in austere environments while improving continuity of care across operational theaters.
