The French Army is set to receive hybrid communication kits from Thales, under a new contract that enhances tactical connectivity across multiple battlefield domains. These systems are part of the ASTRIDE 3 program and are engineered to integrate OneWeb satellite internet, 5G networks, and existing radio communications.
By combining satellite terminals, line-of-sight (LOS) systems, and digital wireless technologies, the Thales kits enable seamless communication in contested or remote operational environments. The hybrid approach ensures that French forces can maintain a high-bandwidth, secure connection regardless of theater constraints.
These kits will support vehicle-mounted operations, providing onboard commanders with access to cloud-based applications, GPS signal resilience, and interoperability with NATO standards. The rollout significantly upgrades the French military’s mobile C4ISR infrastructure, enhancing decision-making at the tactical edge.
