Developed by MBDA from the MMP and MHT programs, the Akeron missile family represents a fifth-generation, network-enabled precision strike system. Consolidated under the Akeron brand in 2022, it includes the medium-range Akeron MP and long-range Akeron LP variants. The Akeron MP weighs around 15 kg and engages targets between 150 meters and over 4 km, featuring fire-and-forget and man-in-the-loop modes via fiber-optic data link. Its dual-band infrared and TV seeker ensures all-weather performance, while its tandem multipurpose warhead adapts to armored vehicles, fortifications, or personnel. The Akeron LP extends beyond-line-of-sight capability beyond 8 km, potentially reaching 20 km, and integrates with helicopters, drones, and ground vehicles using RF data links. France leads operational deployment, with Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Egypt, and Cyprus among users. A 2025 NATO framework agreement supports multinational procurement.
