The Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) is an advanced eight-wheeled armored platform developed for the US Marine Corps to conduct ship-to-shore and inland combat operations. Designed to replace the aging Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV), the ACV combines amphibious maneuverability with enhanced protection, firepower, and modularity. Powered by a robust diesel engine, the 8×8 vehicle can exceed 100 km/h on land and travel over 520 km, providing rapid mobility once ashore. At sea, dual water jets allow it to operate up to 12 nautical miles from amphibious ships and navigate surf zones effectively. Its V-shaped hull, modular armor, blast-mitigating seats, and CBRN protection increase survivability against mines, IEDs, and small arms fire. Variants include the ACV-P (personnel), ACV-C (command and control), ACV-R (recovery), and ACV-30 armed with a 30mm cannon. Since entering service in 2020–2021, the ACV has participated in Indo-Pacific exercises, demonstrating operational flexibility in littoral and inland environments. Future upgrades may include improved water performance, unmanned capabilities, active protection systems, and expanded digital integration.
