The Australian Army is actively expanding its training ecosystem to integrate first-person view (FPV) attack drones across multiple units. Through the “Modify and Operate Attack Drones” course, personnel from both combat and support divisions are trained in assembling, modifying, and piloting drones tailored for battlefield operations. This initiative builds on earlier programs focused on reconnaissance and payload-enabled drone usage. Conducted at the Puckapunyal Military Area in Victoria, the training equips soldiers with hands-on expertise that can be implemented during combined-arms exercises. The effort reflects lessons drawn from the Ukraine conflict, where FPV drones have emerged as cost-effective yet highly impactful tools for surveillance, tactical strikes, and one-way attack missions.
