BAE Systems has joined forces with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC) to advance the M109-52 Self-Propelled Howitzer prototype. Through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), the collaboration aims to further develop capabilities that improve long-range firepower, integrate advanced technologies, and enhance artillery systems currently in use by Soldiers.
The M109-52 prototype offers a low-risk, cost-efficient solution that accelerates delivery of essential warfighting capabilities.
This CRADA builds on earlier independent work and testing by both BAE Systems and DEVCOM-AC, enabling a faster pathway for introducing new artillery features and lethality enhancements for the M109A7 Paladin.
Ongoing development will be carried out at Picatinny Arsenal and across BAE Systems’ extensive U.S. defense industrial facilities, including locations in Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania.
