India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem received a boost as Pune-based Belrise Industries entered into a strategic collaboration with Israel’s Plasan Sasa to jointly produce autonomous electric unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) systems in the country. The partnership aims to support India’s growing demand for advanced military mobility solutions.
The agreement centers on adapting Plasan’s All-Terrain Electric Mission Module (ATEMM) for the Indian armed forces. ATEMM is a 2×2 electric-powered unmanned platform designed to enhance payload capacity, onboard power generation, survivability, and cross-country mobility across varied terrain.
Measuring around 2 meters in length, the ATEMM can operate either as a standalone vehicle or as a trailer-mounted module, delivering up to 50 kilowatt-hours of power to support other vehicles and field equipment. When combined with additional modules, the system can be configured into 4×4 or 8×8 full-electric platforms, generating up to 800 horsepower and carrying payloads exceeding 2,000 kilograms.
The collaboration builds on a broader partnership established between Belrise and Plasan in December, aimed at strengthening localized defense production in India. Under the agreement, Plasan will contribute expertise in armor, survivability, and advanced defense automotive systems, while Belrise will leverage its capabilities in chassis, suspension, and automotive manufacturing, aligning with India’s push for technology transfer and indigenous defense production.
