UAE-based defense manufacturer Calidus recently showcased an advanced variant of its 4×4 Multirole All-Terrain Vehicle (MATV), designated the MATV004, equipped with twin quadruple launchers for the Alheda missile system. This marked the first public display of the MATV in this missile-equipped configuration at a defense event held in Turkey. Alongside the MATV004, Calidus also presented other cutting-edge UAE military platforms such as the Wahash 8×8 Light Infantry Fighting Vehicle (LIFV) and the Barq rocket launcher, highlighting the expanding Emirati portfolio.

The MATV004 builds upon the foundational capabilities of the MATV001, which debuted earlier at IDEX 2025 as the base model in this vehicle series. The MATV001 is a robust 4×4 armored utility vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 14,000 kilograms. Powered by a 360-horsepower engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, it achieves a power-to-weight ratio of nearly 26 horsepower per tonne, providing strong mobility and performance across diverse terrains.

Designed with off-road ruggedness in mind, the MATV001 features a double-wishbone independent suspension system, a two-speed transfer case, and 395/85R20 tires that enable impressive maneuverability. It can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour on paved roads and offers a combat range of approximately 700 kilometers. Its capabilities include climbing slopes as steep as 70%, negotiating 40% side gradients, overcoming vertical obstacles up to 400 millimeters, crossing trenches 750 millimeters wide, and fording water up to 850 millimeters deep. The vehicle measures 6.2 meters long, 2.6 meters wide, and 2.4 meters high, with 40 millimeters of ground clearance. The cabin is configured to seat five personnel, who enter through two front-hinged doors on each side, while a flatbed at the rear facilitates equipment or supply transport
