The Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) program, launched in 2020 to standardize European armored mobility solutions, has welcomed the UK and Norway as new participants. They now stand alongside Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. The initiative focuses on Patria’s 6×6 vehicle, a versatile platform inspired by its 8×8 multi-role armored personnel carrier. Features include a Scania engine, 394 horsepower, and a 700 km range, ensuring flexibility in transport, reconnaissance, and combat missions. Its modular design and NATO compliance make it well-suited for multinational operations. Nearly 1,000 vehicles are already contracted, with deliveries progressing steadily. The UK and Norway’s inclusion highlights the program’s appeal as a cost-efficient, interoperable solution to modern defense challenges. It also emphasizes the European trend toward collective procurement, joint training, and shared logistics as nations seek stronger defense postures amid regional threats.
