China has introduced new augmented reality (AR) headsets designed for use by armored vehicle crews, including commanders, drivers, and gunners. The technology is intended to improve situational awareness on the battlefield and enhance decision-making speed.

The AR system integrates with external cameras and onboard sensors fitted to tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. Through this setup, a 360-degree real-time video feed is projected inside the headset, offering crew members a panoramic view of their surroundings.

This innovation effectively enables operators to “see through” the armor of their vehicles, overcoming one of the biggest challenges in armored warfare—restricted visibility from within heavily protected platforms. By providing a clearer field of vision, the system is expected to significantly improve both mobility and reaction times.

Military analysts suggest that such advancements reflect China’s growing investment in combining digital technologies with traditional armored forces, potentially reshaping how future land combat operations are conducted.
