Croatia has joined a multinational defense procurement initiative by signing a framework contract with Czech vehicle manufacturer Tatra for the acquisition of T-815 military trucks. The agreement enables the Croatian Armed Forces to order up to 420 vehicles in 6×6 and 8×8 configurations, significantly expanding the country’s tactical logistics and mobility capabilities.

The move follows Slovakia’s earlier participation in the framework, which Tatra described as evidence of growing allied interest in its proven military vehicle technology. According to the company, the joint approach strengthens international cooperation in defense technology, improves procurement efficiency, and supports the long-term export strategy of the Czech defense industry.

Tatra confirmed that the original framework agreement with Zagreb was finalized in mid-December, covering T-815 trucks in 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 variants across 24 different configurations. A parallel agreement establishes a long-term mechanism for the Slovak Armed Forces to place vehicle orders based on evolving operational needs. The overall initiative sets a ceiling of €1.03 billion ($1.1 billion), excluding VAT, for total orders placed under the framework.

Known as the T-815-7, T-817, or “Tatra Force,” the platform is a militarized evolution of Tatra’s long-running commercial heavy-duty truck line. First produced in 2007, the tactical variant has been delivered in 4×4 to 10×10 versions for global customers and supports missions ranging from logistics and troop transport to armored vehicles, MRAPs, self-propelled artillery, and rocket systems.
