EuroTrophy has secured a €330 million ($383 million) contract with KNDS Deutschland to supply its Trophy Active Protection System (APS) for the Leopard 2A8 main battle tank programs of Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Croatia. The agreement also includes spare parts, training packages, and long-term logistical support, ensuring sustained operational readiness for the four NATO members.

According to EuroTrophy, the contract reinforces Trophy’s position as the preferred active protection system within NATO, particularly for forces operating along the Alliance’s eastern flank. The Leopard 2A8 will feature Trophy as part of its standard configuration, enabling participating countries to deploy a common protection architecture across their armored fleets and improve interoperability in multinational operations.

The Trophy APS is already integrated on several frontline armored platforms, including the Leopard 2, M1 Abrams, and Merkava IV main battle tanks. In addition to heavy armor, the system has been adapted for lighter vehicles such as the Boxer and Patria AMV, expanding its role in modern combined-arms formations.

Designed to counter a wide range of battlefield threats, Trophy can detect, track, and intercept anti-tank guided missiles, rocket-propelled grenades, and high-explosive anti-tank rounds. Using a radar-based detection array, the system identifies incoming projectiles, calculates their trajectories, and deploys countermeasures to neutralize threats before impact. The system also pinpoints the attacker’s location, sharing targeting data through a battle management network to support rapid counterfire and coordinated responses.
