The U.S. has finalized production of its first B61-13 nuclear gravity bomb nearly a year earlier than planned—just two years into the project. According to Acting Deputy Administrator David Hoagland, the production was expedited by over 25% without affecting safety, security, or other ongoing modernization programs. The milestone follows the recent $9 billion upgrade of the B61-12 and marks one of the fastest deployments of a U.S. nuclear weapon since the Cold War, reinforcing the country’s strategic deterrence posture amid growing global tensions.
