FN Herstal’s EVOLYS ultralight machine gun brings a lightweight design to squad-level firepower. Offered in 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO, the system weighs less than 6.3 kilograms in both variants. The 5.56mm version prioritizes mobility and capacity, while the 7.62mm version provides extended range without the excess weight of traditional machine guns. Both use belt-fed systems compatible with Minimi-style pouches. Key features include hybrid firing modes, ergonomic stocks, suppressor optimization, and quick-change barrels for endurance. FN Herstal said the EVOLYS will strengthen infantry squads by providing firepower that is easier to carry and operate in diverse missions.
