In a bid to revamp its military truck fleet, France may soon benefit from a newly announced strategic alliance between Arquus and Daimler Truck. Revealed on Thursday, the deal brings together French and German industrial powerhouses to co-develop, manufacture, and maintain modern military logistics vehicles for the French Army. The effort is framed within a larger European defense context, as nations ramp up military spending and aim to reduce dependency on foreign—particularly U.S.—defense technologies.
Arquus, which supplies the majority of France’s wheeled military vehicles and now operates under the John Cockerill Group, contributes deep expertise in mobility and integration systems. Daimler Truck, with major production sites in both Germany and France, offers significant manufacturing strength and global reach. The partnership’s emphasis on local production aligns with current EU priorities around defense industrial sovereignty.
