Germany has announced plans to procure Boxer armored fighting vehicles equipped with 30mm Remote Control Turrets (RCT30) to support the operational needs of its newly formed Medium Forces unit.

The RCT30 configuration, initially introduced by Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland in 2016, will be part of a future procurement initiative valued at 3.9 billion euros ($4.5 billion), according to reports. Of this, 1.1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) has been set aside for the early phases of the project.

While the total number of vehicles has not been officially confirmed, estimates suggest that up to 148 Boxers could be acquired. This new batch will complement the 123 Boxer units already being procured under a separate deal involving the Australian Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) variant for Germany’s Heavy Weapon Carrier Infantry.
