General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has received a contract from Germany to supply 256 Piranha V armored vehicles as part of a military communications upgrade. Valued in the high hundreds of millions, the order includes fitting each vehicle with a 15-meter Tactical Wide Area Network (WAN) telescopic mast to serve as mobile hubs for battlefield communications and directional radio functions. GDELS will establish a dedicated support facility in Neubrandenburg for maintenance, logistics, and system support. The initial batch of 58 units is scheduled for delivery in 2026.
