KNDS Deutschland has secured a new order to manufacture 48 Boxer armored vehicles for the German Armed Forces, strengthening Berlin’s ongoing program to expand and modernize its protected mobility fleet. The 352-million-euro ($409 million) contract includes 38 heavily protected Boxer ambulance variants and 10 Boxer driver training vehicles, with an option for Germany to acquire up to 250 more units in future phases.

Deliveries under the current contract are expected to begin in early 2028, marking the next stage of a long-term procurement effort involving multiple European defense partners. This purchase contributes to a broader 4.5-billion-euro ($5.25-billion) framework agreement aimed at supplying 270 Boxer vehicles to both Germany and the Netherlands.

KNDS Deutschland is fulfilling this order under the leadership of ARTEC, the original equipment manufacturer of the Boxer platform and a joint venture between KNDS and Rheinmetall Landsysteme. The arrangement ensures cohesive production standards across all Boxer variants, maintaining the platform’s reputation for high protection, modularity, and battlefield versatility.

The Boxer ambulance variant plays a critical role in frontline medical support, equipped with a flexible mission module capable of handling various casualty types, including those requiring intensive care. Meanwhile, the Boxer driver training vehicle mirrors the weight and handling of combat variants, allowing soldiers to gain full proficiency during peacetime training without transitioning challenges when moving to operational models.
