Germany has awarded Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) a contract to deliver over 1,300 logistics trucks valued at €770 million ($891 million). The deal includes 963 swap-body trucks—some with armored cabs—and 425 unprotected transport vehicles (UTVs) in 4×4 and 8×8 variants.

These vehicles are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2025. The UTVs are part of a larger €3.5 billion ($4 billion) framework agreement signed in July 2024, which allows for the delivery of up to 6,500 vehicles over seven years.

This contract introduces a new 3.5-ton 4×4 category to the procurement list. The German military has used UTVs and swap-body systems from the HX vehicle family since 2017, when it began modernizing its logistics fleet.

So far, RMMV has supplied around 7,000 HX trucks and associated systems, including cargo modules and 70-ton trailers. The new order will further strengthen Germany’s logistics and transport capabilities.
