India’s Reliance Defence and Germany’s Rheinmetall have formed a strategic partnership to co-produce large-scale ammunition at a new facility in Watad, southwestern India. The site will manufacture up to 200,000 artillery shells and thousands of tons of explosives and propellants yearly. This collaboration will bolster Rheinmetall’s global supply chain while supporting India’s “Make in India” drive and $5 billion defense export target by boosting domestic self-sufficiency in ammunition production.
