The rapid rise of drones on modern battlefields has created an urgent demand for effective counter-drone systems. In response to this challenge, SSS Defence has introduced the T-12 Counter-Unmanned Aerial System kinetic kill suite, an indigenous solution developed in India. The system is designed to provide soldiers with a portable and reliable method of neutralizing hostile drones at close range. The T-12 CUAS integrates a man-portable weapon platform, specialized targeting optics, and ammunition specifically designed for engaging unmanned aerial systems. Unlike electronic warfare solutions that attempt to jam or disrupt drone signals, the T-12 uses a kinetic approach to physically destroy the drone. Demonstrations released by the manufacturer have shown the system successfully neutralizing a drone at a distance of approximately 90 meters. In many combat environments, drones operate at low altitudes and close distances, leaving soldiers with very little reaction time. In such situations, a direct kinetic solution can be one of the most reliable methods of eliminating the threat. The development of the T-12 system also highlights the growing capability of India’s domestic defense industry. By designing and producing such systems locally, Indian companies can respond more quickly to evolving battlefield requirements. The T-12 CUAS is intended to be deployed at the small-unit level, giving soldiers the ability to defend themselves against drone threats even when larger air-defense systems are not immediately available.
