The United States has approved a proposed $510 million arms sale to Israel, involving bomb guidance kits and associated support equipment. This move follows the heavy use of Israeli munitions in recent military operations involving Iran.
According to a statement from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the sale aims to enhance Israel’s defensive capabilities by strengthening its protection of borders, infrastructure, and population centers. The agency emphasized that supporting Israel’s defense remains a priority in U.S. national security policy.
The U.S. State Department has authorized the transaction, with DSCA issuing the required congressional notification. Final approval from Congress is still pending.
This announcement comes after Israel conducted a large-scale air operation on June 13, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, key personnel, and military sites, amid concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Tehran maintains its program is civilian, but U.S. and other international actors believe it has military objectives.
