KNDS has unveiled the second prototype of its advanced Leopard 2A-RC 3.0 main battle tank during trials in Germany, according to video footage released on the Militär- und Landtechnik Klaus Schröder YouTube channel. The vehicle, identified as PT02, represents the latest step in the company’s modernization program for the Leopard 2 family.

The PT02 variant has a length of 7.95 meters (26 feet), a width of 3.73 meters (12.24 feet), and a height of 2.4 meters (7.87 feet). With its gun mounted, the length extends to 11.17 meters (36.65 feet), and when equipped with a periscope, the height reaches 2.84 meters (9.32 feet). These dimensions underscore the platform’s imposing battlefield presence.

One of its key design features is a ground clearance of 0.5 meters (1.64 feet), enabling it to navigate rugged environments and battlefield obstacles with minimal risk of undercarriage damage. This capability significantly enhances the tank’s operational flexibility across diverse terrains.

By combining improved mobility with advanced armament integration, the Leopard 2A-RC 3.0 PT02 reflects KNDS’s continued commitment to developing a next-generation main battle tank capable of meeting the demands of modern high-intensity combat.
