Pratt & Whitney, an RTX company, has been awarded a contract by Dynetics, a Leidos company, to provide TJ150 turbojet engines for integration into the Small Cruise Missile (Black Arrow) program.
The TJ150 turbojet is a compact, high-performance engine known for its rapid manufacturability, reliability, and scalability. Delivering 150 pounds of thrust, the TJ150 is capable of high-altitude ignition and is suitable for a wide range of autonomous systems and weapon platforms for both U.S. and international markets.
Although initial integration assessments with Pratt & Whitney began in 2023, work under this latest contract officially started in April 2025 and is expected to continue through the first quarter of 2026. The agreement also includes options for future engine deliveries.
Currently in production, the TJ150 has already powered several missile systems, with over 2,700 units delivered worldwide. Pratt & Whitney continues to focus on enhancing the engine’s affordability, including the application of additive manufacturing to improve production flexibility and expand supply chain options.
