The Lithuanian Armed Forces have received a new batch of Spike LR2 anti-tank guided missiles from Israeli manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The acquisition, valued at 6 million euros ($6.9 million), strengthens Lithuania’s long-term modernization program for its ground forces.

The Spike LR2 systems will be integrated with Lithuania’s Boxer-type infantry fighting vehicles “Vilkas”, which are equipped with the Samson Mk II remote weapon station. This advanced turret includes a 30mm cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun, and a Spike launcher, offering troops versatile firepower on the battlefield.

The delivery comes after successful live-fire trials held in May, conducted jointly with the Lithuanian Army, the OCCAR procurement agency, and ARTEC GmbH—the KNDS and Rheinmetall joint venture that produces the Boxer platform.

The Spike LR2 represents the fifth generation of Rafael’s anti-tank missiles. Weighing just 13 kilograms, it incorporates AI-enabled target tracking and can engage threats up to 5.5 kilometers from land platforms or extend its reach to 10 kilometers when fired from aircraft. Its 1.2-meter frame with a 130mm tandem HEAT warhead is optimized to defeat heavy armor and hardened urban targets.
