The US Army has awarded a major contract to MSM North America, a subsidiary of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), to construct a large-caliber ammunition loading facility. The project, valued at $632 million, aims to strengthen the nation’s artillery production capacity.

Known as the Future Artillery Complex (FAC), the facility will be built at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and is expected to be completed within 40 months. Full commissioning and large-scale operations are scheduled to begin in September 2029.

The site will integrate modern manufacturing technologies to provide scalable, cost-efficient explosive load, assembly, and pack solutions for artillery munitions. The advanced setup will allow greater flexibility in production to meet evolving military demands.

Once operational, the plant will be capable of producing up to 36,000 rounds of 155mm artillery shells each month. This significant output is intended to boost US and allied readiness at a time of growing global instability and heightened security challenges.
