Poland has awarded a 150-million złoty contract to Mesko to deliver thousands of next-generation 120mm APFSDS-T tank munitions. These rounds are built for heavy armor penetration, weighing 7.3 kg and using 8.4 kg of propellant for high-velocity impact. The inclusion of an electric primer (GUW-7-120) ensures consistent detonation, pushing the shells to speeds of 1,670 meters per second. They are primarily designed for use with Leopard 2 tanks, which are equipped with the Rheinmetall Rh-120/L44 gun. However, there are indications that the rounds may also function effectively with the M1 Abrams, broadening operational options for the Polish Army.
