RTX’s BBN Technologies has secured a contract from the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to contribute to the INGOTS (Intelligent Generation of Tools for Security) program. The initiative aims to advance cybersecurity by improving the detection and prevention of exploit chains—linked vulnerabilities used to conduct sophisticated cyberattacks.
The threat posed by exploit chains continues to escalate as attacks grow more complex. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has recorded over 1,300 entries in its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, highlighting the scale and persistence of threats to critical systems.
Currently, identifying these exploit chains involves manual, labor-intensive analysis requiring deep technical expertise. INGOTS intends to change that by developing automated tools capable of generating, modifying, and analyzing exploit chains.
Through this program, DARPA and RTX aim to significantly accelerate threat response and enhance the resilience of digital infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.
