Sweden has placed an order with Finnish firearms manufacturer Sako for an additional 22,500 Automatkarbin 24 (AK 24) assault rifles for its military. This procurement falls under a bilateral agreement established in March 2021 between Sweden and Finland to collaboratively upgrade their small arms in light of changing combat requirements. The initial acquisition of the AK 24 rifles by both nations was announced in March 2023.
