On December 11, 2024, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence formalized an agreement with Spanish shipbuilder Navantia to construct three additional Avante 2200 corvettes. These new vessels will follow the design of the five corvettes already in service with the Royal Saudi Naval Forces. The first ship will be built in Spain, while the remaining two will be assembled in Saudi Arabia. Local integration and testing of the Hazem combat system will be handled by SAMINavantia, the Saudi-Navantia joint venture. The final corvette is scheduled for delivery by 2028.
