Silvus Technologies has unveiled a new tactical networking solution designed to boost battlefield communications and situational awareness. The system, called StreamCaster NEXUS, is built to be worn directly on a soldier’s chest, providing seamless access to mission-critical voice, video, and data streams even in dynamic or contested environments.
The StreamCaster NEXUS enhances real-time coordination by integrating multiple communication channels into a compact and power-efficient platform. Its lightweight and ergonomic design enables troops to stay connected while on the move, reducing the burden of traditional handheld or vehicle-mounted systems. The device is optimized for size, weight, and power (SWaP), ensuring minimal interference with combat mobility.
At the heart of the system lies Silvus’ SM5200 mobile ad hoc network (MANET) radio, capable of delivering data rates exceeding 100 megabits per second and up to two watts of transmit power. This advanced radio enables high-bandwidth connectivity across dispersed units, supporting secure and resilient data exchange in real time.
The StreamCaster NEXUS is also compatible with commercial off-the-shelf devices, including the Samsung S23 and S23 Tactical Edition smartphones, expanding its integration across digital soldier ecosystems. Silvus stated that the system represents a major step forward in delivering lightweight, high-performance communication gear tailored to modern military demands.
