Slovakia’s Ministry of Defence has unveiled a new combat uniform alongside a comprehensive package of modern small arms as part of a broader military modernization initiative. The updated Personal Clothing System – Combat Uniform, officially designated M25 or “Vzor 25,” replaces the digital camouflage pattern introduced in 2007 and is designed to improve comfort, protection, and long-term operational endurance for Slovak Armed Forces personnel.
According to defense officials, the Vzor 25 uniform reflects operational feedback and lessons learned from recent conflicts. The new system focuses on enhanced durability and survivability during extended field deployments. A standard uniform set, priced at approximately €300 ($354), includes field trousers, a combat blouse, and a cap, with additional mission-specific components available, including flame-resistant variants for high-risk operations.
While the base fabric is sourced from international suppliers, production processes such as tailoring and finishing will be carried out by Slovak companies. In parallel with the uniform rollout, soldiers will also receive upgraded protective equipment, including modern body armor, ballistic helmets, and night-vision devices to further enhance battlefield survivability.
In addition to personal equipment upgrades, Slovakia has confirmed the adoption of new domestically manufactured small arms from local defense firm Grand Power. The GP M4M 5.56×45 mm assault rifle will become the standard infantry weapon, supported by GP R10 7.62×51 mm sniper rifles, Stribog SP9 A3 9×19 mm submachine guns, and GP Q1 9 mm pistols. The rearmament program is valued at approximately €82 million ($96.7 million), with deliveries scheduled to continue through 2028.
