South Korea is on the verge of signing a large-scale defense deal with Poland, focused on supplying K2 main battle tanks, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration confirmed on Tuesday.

This move is a continuation of a 2022 multi-billion-dollar defense partnership that also involved aircraft deliveries to support NATO-member Poland amidst rising European security concerns.

Authorities stated that talks are progressing rapidly between the two governments and companies involved, with efforts underway to close the deal quickly.

While the final value hasn’t been officially disclosed, it is expected to set a new record for a single-system arms deal from South Korea.

As reported by Yonhap, the estimated contract could reach $6 billion, with 117 tanks produced in Korea and 63 to be constructed locally in Poland.
