Switzerland is strengthening the survivability and concealment capabilities of its armed forces by investing in advanced multispectral camouflage systems designed to protect troops, vehicles, and key infrastructure from modern detection technologies. The effort aims to counter threats posed by drones, thermal imagers, radar systems, and infrared sensors increasingly used in modern surveillance and targeting.

Following a comprehensive evaluation campaign, Switzerland’s defense procurement agency, Armasuisse, has selected three European companies to deliver the next generation of camouflage solutions. The chosen suppliers—SSZ Camouflage Technology AG from Switzerland, Saro GmbH from Germany, and Saab from Sweden—were identified as offering the most effective technologies across multiple threat spectrums.

The procurement process consisted of 14 individual lots, each representing different operational needs and environmental conditions. Armasuisse assigned each lot to the firm whose multispectral solution demonstrated the highest technical performance, durability, and compatibility with Swiss defense requirements during trials.

This multi-vendor strategy ensures Switzerland gains access to a diverse range of camouflage technologies while enhancing resilience against evolving battlefield sensors. The new systems will be integrated into various land platforms and field operations, significantly improving the Swiss military’s ability to remain undetected in contested environments.
