Taiwan’s Army has announced an upcoming live-fire training exercise to evaluate troop performance and integrate new weapons into operational service.
Preparations involve ammunition audits, maintenance procedures, and community coordination. Commander Lu Kun-hsiu explained that the drill will sharpen commanders’ understanding of evolving training requirements.
Weapons deliveries are expected to surge in 2026. This year, Taiwan will receive its full order of 108 M1A2T tanks and 14 Volcano systems, as well as 18 additional HIMARS launchers. The first 11 HIMARS units are already paired with ATACMS. TOW-2B and Javelin anti-tank missiles were delivered last year.
Taiwan continues to reinforce defense ties, including a collaboration between Shield AI and NCSIST on AI-controlled unmanned systems. The country is also increasing Patriot missile stocks and acquiring IRST21 Legion ES infrared tracking systems through a US defense contract.
