The British Army has selected a tactical communication system developed by Persistent Systems for its rapid-response forces. The technology will be deployed by the 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team to provide voice and broadband connectivity in environments where traditional communication infrastructure may not be available. The system is built around the Wave Relay network and the MPU5 radio, which operates using Mobile Ad Hoc Network architecture. In this configuration, mobile nodes act as routers and maintain communication links between units even in complex and highly mobile battlefield conditions.
