The Royal Navy destroyer HMS Duncan successfully countered multiple aerial and surface drone threats during a complex blended live and synthetic exercise conducted off MOD Aberporth. Organized with Fleet Operational Standards and Training and delivered by QinetiQ alongside Inzpire, the scenario replicated modern swarm-style attacks combining unmanned aerial systems, simulated cruise missiles, anti-ship ballistic missile profiles, and hostile aircraft tracks. Duncan’s integrated sensors and combat systems tracked and neutralized five airborne targets while destroying two Hammerhead uncrewed surface vehicles, demonstrating layered defensive coordination across air and maritime domains. The exercise validated the ship’s readiness against high-density, multi-vector threats.
