Ukrainian defense firm STG has unveiled a new thermal-imaging camouflage poncho designed to shield soldiers from enemy surveillance. The innovation reflects Ukraine’s growing focus on advanced survivability technologies as the battlefield becomes increasingly dominated by drones and infrared detection systems.

The poncho made its debut at the Brave1 Defense Tech Valley 2025 exhibition, where it was showcased as part of a broader effort to integrate stealth solutions into frontline equipment. Using advanced thermal-masking materials, the system reduces infrared signatures, making troops harder to track through heat-sensitive sensors.

According to STG, the poncho can conceal a soldier’s thermal presence at distances of up to 100 meters (328 feet) in wooded environments and 250 meters (820 feet) in open terrain. This makes it particularly useful in countering aerial and ground-based surveillance assets, helping reduce vulnerability during both maneuver and defensive operations.
