The United States has approved a $930-million foreign military sale of Lockheed Martin’s M142 HIMARS rocket artillery systems to Sweden. The proposed deal includes 20 HIMARS launchers along with guided rocket pods, extended-range munitions, tactical communication systems, and support equipment. HIMARS is a highly mobile rocket launcher capable of firing six rockets or a single missile from one launch pod. Known for its effectiveness in the Ukraine conflict, the system allows rapid “shoot-and-scoot” operations to avoid counter-attacks.
