The US Army has awarded contracts worth $15.5 million to three American companies to integrate autonomous capabilities into its Infantry Support Vehicles (ISVs). The move reflects the service’s commitment to enhancing mobility, adaptability, and survivability on the modern battlefield.
The firms selected include Forterra of Maryland, Overland AI of Washington, and Scout AI of California. Each will contribute its expertise in commercial autonomy to help transform the Army’s existing ISVs into advanced unmanned platforms capable of independent navigation and operational support.
As part of the effort, the contractors are expected to deliver prototype vehicles for testing and evaluation by May 2026. These demonstrations will allow the Army to measure the reliability, performance, and readiness of the autonomous systems under realistic conditions.
Should the program prove successful, the autonomy solutions developed for ISVs could be extended to other ground vehicle fleets, paving the way for a broader adoption of unmanned and semi-autonomous systems across US military operations.
