The United States has approved a $163.4 million contract for Textron Systems to supply 65 Commando Select armored vehicles to Ukraine, strengthening Kyiv’s protected mobility and tactical flexibility on the battlefield. The vehicles are intended to enhance troop protection and maneuverability in high-threat operational environments.

The award was issued under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process. Managed by the US Army Contracting Command at Detroit Arsenal, the three-year firm fixed-price contract covers vehicle fabrication, delivery, and the provision of spare parts for a one-year sustainment period.

The Commando Select, a variant of Textron Systems’ Mobile Strike Force Vehicle, is engineered for operations in demanding terrain and contested conditions. The platform offers improved crew protection, mobility, and mission adaptability compared with many traditional armored personnel carriers, making it well suited for Ukraine’s operational requirements.

The contract forms part of a broader US commitment to military assistance for Ukraine. In late 2024, Washington announced nearly $6 billion in military and budgetary support, including artillery munitions, HIMARS rockets, air defense interceptors, anti-tank weapons, and unmanned systems. Additional aid packages approved in December 2025 and January 2025 further reinforced support for Ukrainian air defense and F-16 operations, with significant deliveries scheduled through 2026 and 2027.
