Lyocon, a subsidiary of Nuburu, has completed initial trials of a portable laser weapon designed to counter drones in contested airspace. The lightweight system can be mounted on rifles, enabling soldiers to carry and deploy it quickly during operations. Using a multi-wavelength directed-energy configuration, the device operates across green, blue, and infrared laser bands to disrupt different types of drones. This non-kinetic approach allows troops to disable aerial threats without using traditional ammunition.
