The Joint Multinational Training Group–Ukraine (JMTG-U), a US-led mission supporting the training and capability development of Ukrainian forces, has conducted a live-fire trial using drone-based munitions. During the test, 117 live M67 fragmentation grenades were dropped via a Skydio X10 Delta (X10D) drone at Germany’s Grafenwoehr Training Area.
The evaluation focused on the US Army’s Audible dropper system, which is designed to improve frontline precision in delivering small munitions. The JMTG-U’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Innovation Team carried out multiple refinements during the event to enhance reliability and ensure the system’s suitability for battlefield use.
The Skydio X10D, which has been cleared under the Pentagon’s Blue UAS program, demonstrated its flexibility throughout the test. Capable of speeds up to 45 miles (72 kilometers) per hour and deployable in under 40 seconds, the drone proved ideal for rapid-response missions.
Fitted with advanced payloads, the platform features high-resolution visual cameras and radiometric thermal imaging for reconnaissance. Its VT300-Z package includes a telephoto sensor capable of detecting vehicles, personnel, and objects at range, while the Teledyne FLIR Boson+ module delivers precise thermal readings across varied conditions, further enhancing the drone’s battlefield value.
