Babcock has secured a long-term contract extension to continue providing in-service support for the Royal Canadian Navy’s Victoria-class diesel-electric attack submarines, ensuring the fleet remains operationally ready throughout the coming years. The agreement extends critical sustainment activities for six years while allowing additional support until the submarines eventually retire from service as Canada transitions toward a future underwater combat fleet. Building on nearly two decades of collaboration with the Canadian government, Babcock will continue delivering engineering services, maintenance planning, logistics support, supply chain management, and technical expertise required to sustain the aging submarine fleet. Since 2008, the company’s submarine sustainment activities have generated more than 3.2 billion Canadian dollars in economic benefits, supported approximately 450 domestic industry partners, and maintained over 1,500 skilled jobs annually. Beyond traditional defense contracting, Babcock has strengthened Canada’s sovereign industrial base by working closely with universities, Indigenous communities, research institutions, and small and medium-sized businesses to promote innovation, workforce development, and advanced technical training. Company executives emphasized that the renewed agreement will improve fleet readiness while ensuring Canada’s submarine sustainment enterprise remains prepared for the transition to future undersea capabilities.
