Babcock has secured a new long-term agreement to continue providing in-service support for the Royal Canadian Navy’s Victoria-class diesel-electric submarines. The six-year contract extends the company’s responsibility for maintaining fleet readiness while supporting the submarines until they are eventually replaced by Canada’s future undersea combat capability. Building on nearly two decades of collaboration with the Canadian government, Babcock will continue delivering engineering support, maintenance services, logistics management, and sustainment expertise for the aging submarine fleet. Since 2008, the company’s submarine support activities have generated more than CAD 3.2 billion in economic benefits, supported approximately 1,500 jobs annually, and established a network of around 450 Canadian suppliers and industry partners. Beyond maintenance, Babcock has strengthened Canada’s defense industrial base by collaborating with academic institutions, Indigenous organizations, and small and medium-sized enterprises to promote innovation, workforce development, and advanced technical skills. The contract extension is expected to ensure operational readiness while enabling a smooth transition toward Canada’s next-generation submarine fleet.
