The German Army has taken delivery of its first Eagle 6×6 armored medical support vehicle from GDELS (General Dynamics European Land Systems) as part of a multiyear modernization contract valued at approximately $159 million. This milestone delivery, which was accepted during an active field exercise in Feldkirchen, Bavaria, is part of a larger agreement to supply up to 80 units.

The newly introduced Eagle 6×6 is intended to bridge the gap between Germany’s current light and heavy medical evacuation vehicles, joining systems such as the Boxer MRAV and the aging Eagle reconnaissance variants. Designed for battlefield mobility and survivability, the platform measures 7 meters in length, has a 6-ton payload, and can accommodate up to 14 occupants.

Performance-wise, it is outfitted with a 360 hp diesel engine, Allison five-speed automatic transmission, and a fully independent De Dion suspension system, offering excellent off-road capability. With a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph) and a maximum operational range of 700 km (435 miles), the Eagle 6×6 is built for extended field deployment.

The ambulance configuration is equipped with a smart stretcher-loading mechanism and state-of-the-art medical systems, enabling it to safely transport and stabilize two wounded soldiers during high-risk evacuation missions.
