Germany has reportedly placed a confidential order for more than 1,000 Mercedes-Benz Zetros military trucks to support Ukraine’s defense logistics. The order, disclosed by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), aims to strengthen Kyiv’s transport and supply network amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The purchase was allegedly made through Daimler Truck, building upon an earlier delivery of around 340 Zetros vehicles supplied since the war began. While Berlin has not officially confirmed the deal, FAZ reported that it was likely financed under Germany’s classified military assistance program, estimated to be worth several hundred million euros. Daimler Truck declined to comment on the matter.

Deliveries are expected to proceed gradually as production scales up. The large-scale procurement is considered one of the biggest vehicle orders within Germany’s confidential support packages for Ukraine, signaling a continued push to sustain Kyiv’s battlefield mobility.

Built by Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, the Zetros is a robust off-road vehicle capable of transporting troops, supplies, or fuel across rugged terrain. With payloads of up to 25 tons and options ranging from 4×2 to 8×8 configurations, the vehicle is used by multiple armed forces worldwide. Recent upgrades include adaptations for modern “drone war” conditions, featuring improved protection and situational awareness technologies.
