Agile Defense has announced its participation as a key subcontractor under a $44-million US Navy program aimed at modernizing and securing the Military Sealift Command’s (MSC) global information technology infrastructure. The five-and-a-half-year contract, awarded to Savvee Consulting, will focus on strengthening cybersecurity readiness and streamlining enterprise IT operations across MSC’s worldwide logistics network.
Under the subcontract, Agile Defense will deliver cybersecurity enhancements, data analytics, and system sustainment services to improve the resilience and operational efficiency of MSC’s digital ecosystem. These efforts are critical to ensuring the command’s ability to manage and support its fleet of over 130 civilian-crewed vessels responsible for transporting essential fuel, supplies, and equipment to US and allied military forces worldwide.
Jay Burkhardt, Vice President for Navy and Marine Corps Operations at Agile Defense, emphasized that the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to advancing secure digital transformation within the naval domain. The program not only reinforces the Navy’s mission assurance objectives but also aligns with broader Department of Defense initiatives to enhance cyber hygiene and resilience across operational and maritime systems.
The Military Sealift Command, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, plays a central role in sustaining US Navy and joint operations through global maritime logistics. Its fleet ranges from fast combat support ships to hospital and surveillance vessels, serving as the logistical backbone of the Pentagon’s worldwide missions. In 2025, MSC expanded its operational capacity with the John Lewis-class fleet oilers, providing improved refueling support to carrier strike groups. The command has also implemented advanced cybersecurity protocols aboard auxiliary ships and recently upgraded its Global Maritime Operations Center, enabling real-time coordination of logistics vessels across the globe.
