Australia has announced an initial AU$3.9 billion investment toward building nuclear-powered submarines under the AUKUS pact with the United States and Britain. The facility at Osborne near Adelaide will serve as the core production hub, with long-term investments estimated at AU$30 billion. The broader program could cost up to AU$235 billion over three decades and includes technology transfer enabling domestic submarine construction. Additional funding of AU$8 billion will upgrade facilities in Perth to support the fleet.
